Technical University of Braunschweig

The Institute for Thermodynamics (IfT) at the Technical University of Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) is active in the field of education and research within thermodynamics, thermal systems, heat transfer, and thermodynamic properties. One of the institute’s strongholds is dynamic objective-oriented modelling.

The development of digital twins for heat pump and refrigeration systems is based on advanced numerical models of the systems, which is a major focus of the IfT. They have experiences within supermarket refrigeration systems, optimal control and fault diagnosis. The IfT aims at contributing to innovative solutions within the field of energy efficiency using the possibilities available through digitalization.

In the project, TU Braunschweig will mainly be concerned with fault detection and diagnosis of the systems. Additionally, they will be involved in the model development and application in connection with the case studies.
